The Single Processors do not have these extra ports. I bought a ThermalTake Toaster for drives and it has USB 2.0 / eSata - i used to run it off one of the Extra internal Sata Ports on a Dual Processor MacPro. Did it ever really catch on. But not sure how much Kit is out there for that anymore. Is your beast a Dual Processor ? eSata is another route. Image creater for macAlso I could later plug in an Audio Interface to it (my Babyface is only USB 2 I think), now I don't think or I don't think if it makes any difference at all if such a thing is connected over USB 2 or 3, but yeah… #noobhereInateck is working great here (ML & El Cap), doesn't require a driver, in 5.1 Mac Pro. (it's sold like that)And so I thought "why not get USB 3 to get maximal performance?"Maybe my thought was useless and it makes no difference. Your solution requires whatever you will connect to your Mac to have eSATA, no? Basically I bought NI Komplete Ultimate and it comes with a hard drive with USB 3. Cheers johnYup it's a dual processor! But I'm not sure if I get what you mean. And it runs as fast as internal. Now I am really happy that I have it and don't want to swap it. Don't like letting it run for an hour or so, and don't want to shut it down for an hour either on the other hand. And yeah, there was a time when I wanted to have the nMP and I actually almost "hated" mine haha. I do sleep my Mac quite a lot. I'm guessing some arbitrary undocumented change to USB (something involving new emoji genders etc) has occurred which is not quite playing well with these cards, but it's definitely not a showstopper, we're talking very rare here and it's when you boot, not in the middle of working on something.Definitely worth buying if you want to be able to get cheap USB3.0 disks for storage/backup etc. Thanks for the "review" if I can call it so. I should talk to him soon and can ask him how he works with Ultimate. Of course you can connect your SSDs with PCIe but that is a loss of space actually (unless you leave your drives in the optical bay and use cables).i only have Kontakt 5, but a friend has Ultimate. Some people say USB 3 is faster than the optical bay, I'm wondering why use it at all then.Even if I love the Mac Pro, one thing that is definitely not up to date anymore is the optical bay. Do you use it as well? I have to see if I have enough space on my SSD, otherwise I will either install it on my second Mac Pro drive (HDD) or on an external drive (eventually USB3 then). Should arrive tomorrow or the day after that. Seems like a waste of a drive though. And understood that the drive is just for installing. I run one of my Samples Drives (SSD) in the 2nd Optical Bay and have not seen any issues. He is out on a gig right now. Probably the manufacturer states not compatible for the issues there. When researching these cards, most people said they worked just fine in the new OSX's. Seem to make complete sense. So no real reason to bother.).I haven't used them with the latest OSX's, but the points made here by Henry Jones Sr. I don't use "sleep" very often on these machines, either they are on or off, (sleeping has never been a very good thing on music machines in general going back to screensavers on os7 etc. For $30, they have been a great investment in time etc. (correct?).But for working with other people etc, and awaiting LooONG usb transfers, I have not for a second regretted getting the inatek cards.
